Civil War: Confederate and Border States?

So, I'm doing some history homework and I'm confused. It's asking for: Two confederate states, two border states, and one political event of the Civil War. Anyone got any answers for those? I sorta left my book at school on accident and google hasn't helped much, surprisingly. Thanks in advance!!!!
