Splinter problem 6 years ago.?

So yeah i had a splinter problem about 6 or 7 years ago. I was playing in the play ground and happenly to be kneeling when i had a pain in my knees. I called for the help of my neices and we wobbled back home. After that my mom and my cousin helped me get it out. Unforunately, it was 2 painful to take out so i told my mom to leave it in so it can come out on its own. while i was laying on my bed i saw little tiny woods popping out. so i grabbed a couple and pulled them out. I thought i took out most of the wood but left some in. Now 7 or 6 years later im 13 and have a tiny sqishy circle on my knee. So im worried is it infected becuz it never got infected or nothing happened for 6 years. Or do u think i can cut open the small squishy circle and take it out. Answers?
