Can Anyone get arrested someone elses crime?

2 weeks ago My dad got into an accident in my car and he fled the scene some guy gave the cops my plate. i was pulled over due to speeding he took my license and ran it then he ran my plate then he told me someone reported ur plate a hit and run . i told him i nvr hit and ran no one. he told me someones gotta go to jail for this crime and since i was operating the vehicle when he stopped me he arrested me for hit and run and nvr double locked my cuffs so they got tighter and i felt pressure build up my armpits. it never went on my record bc they ended up relasing me then and there can anyone get blamed for someonelses crime?
