Chinchilla as a pet? please help?

I was wondering if Chins make good pets? I've had guniea pigs all my life and i want to get something new something that has a long life expectancy as wel. But i have heard chins arent as affectionate or cuddly or friendly as guniea pigs? Do they bite a lot? Is it possible with a lot of holding and love they will grow to be affectionate?
