Which is best for relaxing/calm nights?

This may sound weird, but when i am 18-20 years old im going to go on a 3 week trip to ether Nebraska or Illinois. It gonna be a nothing trip, i know that sounds weird but, im gonna just work on a farm for someone or something, and just hangout in fields make fires and sleep by the fire at night. Its really just gonna be a trip to discovery myself and my thoughts. I just wanna know which state would be better and safer, Nebraska or Illinois??? Member this trip is really just hanging out by nature, not really camping, just a pillow a fire and me in a field? idk just thoughts ya know? And it all gonna be in the middle of no where, where there is nice people and relaxation
